Frameless Windows Frozen Shut

Post by tartangti »

As you all know the window in the Scirocco should drop down to let you get into the car when you open it. Except in the last few days this hasnt been happening because of the windows being frozen shut! The door seems to open OK as the rubber appears to give enough for that but it won't close properly until you warm the car up. Feels like I'm going to damage the rubber seal around the car door opening it like this but there's literally no other way to get into the car to start the engine and de-ice it!

Has anyone got any solutions for the above problem as this is the first car I've ever had with frameless windows so it's the first time I've ever had this issue?

pain in the butt ok,just drench car windows with water, but MAKE SURE NOT TO TOUCH UR REMOTE CONTROL FIRST,IF U PRESS OPEN WINDOWS WILL POP OPEN WHEN DEFROSTING&SOAK INSIDE OF CAR WHEN POURING WATER ON WINDOWS.Frameless windows are a pain unless living in frost free country. Why dont designers take these basic design flaws/stupid mistakes on board when designing cars?

Nightmare....I came out from work and the doors wouldnt open!!! No de Icer (it was in the car)
I had to find a shop that would give me a tub of warm water. Such a stupid design...I had a 330 BMW which had the same style windows But No Rubber Seal... A better design which never froze up...
To add insult I drove home and had to ring my wife to pour water on the window to get out of the FOOK*N car!!!!!
It was only minus 1. No good in several European countries then?
I spoke to VW U.K they said it was not a problem they had come across, and due to the bad weather..
So I said to them "so the car is no good past minus 1 then.?" to which they replied not really!!!!!!?????????
Glad I dont live in Switzerland.....
I even used de icer at home and it took a whole can to de ice the car...
This is just a design fault... ( by the way you probably found a scraper damages the rubber!!!!!!)
On a bad note.. my wife was going to take the Roc shopping that evening. good job she hadnt. there arent many tubs of water available in most car parks... SORT IT OUT VW....

As per the manual... Treat the seals with silicone spray to keep the rubber protected and stop the windows from sticking. I'm amazed how many folks have complained about this. If people actually read what the manual tells them theey wouldn't experience half the problems that they do...
