tsi 122 bhp - What are your experiences?

Post by tezamm »

I am about to order a GT ROC and the 122bhp is much cheaper here in Malta than 160.

What are your driving experiences with 122bhp?

Thanks

I think I am the only one driving a 122 around here. There's another guy from Dublin I think who ordered a brown one, but he's getting his next year.
I can't really tell you much more than I already have because with the heavy snowfalls outside I'm homebound these days. They say it's a great engine with low consumption and lots of torque at low rpms, just like a diesel. Mine was 1800 euros cheaper than the 160.

I have mine 122BHP in norway. Its also alot of snow here, but i am very suprised over how fast it is to be a 122bhp. I was suprised!
Going to tune it to 160/260 and hit nordschleife next fall ;)

I've got experience with a 122bhp Golf Mk6 DSG, and can say it's ok for day to day driving. It has reason pull in th e low end, and is reasonable for motorway, town and country road driving.
However, it really lacks any go compared to the 160bhp and certainly the 200.

I think your best bet is to try the 122 and the 160, and then make up your mind... I bet you'll be very tempted wth the 160 :D

I'm not thinking of modding my 1.4 yet, but I think I can answer your question.
The 160 is about 1800euros more expensive than the 122. You can upgrade your 122 to about 155 with 300-400-500euros, depeding on what company you choose.

Managed to get a 5.9l % today after a 60km run with an average of 65kmh. This means about 40mpg for a 40mile run and an average of 40mph.
Expected less to be honest...but the car isn't properly run in yet, having only 1100km on the clock.
