Anyone got a tracker device fitted?

Post by rocccosiffredi »

Hi all. I expect delivery of my car in a little under two weeks time!

I am considering fitting a tracker device and was wondering if anybody has any experience of this device and company?

I would also quite like to know about this. I wonder if it makes a useful difference to the insurance price?

Not a good idea to advertise whether you have or intend to have Tracker fitted to your car - thieves have been known to come on to these forums for valuable information like that. My opinion of course !!

Surely, if a scum bag used this site to determine the location of a potential vehicle to lift, he'd stay away from one having mentioned a traker being fitted....

If there is a gob-shite out there reading this, I may have/ might have / might not have / may not have a tracker fitted. On the other hand, I may have/ might have / might not have / may not have a shot gun and I may / may not blow out what little morals you have in your rotten little head if you touch my car.

Back to the original post, they usually make a difference but I'm not sure on how much.
.... I smile because I have no idea of what's going on ....

You can get a tracker installed for around £300 , then its about £100 a year or £350 for life time (of your car ownership)
I asked my insurance company about it, no reduced premium, but they won't object if I do or do not have one fitted
I may or may not have had one fitted in in my R32 recently.

BLACK JAX ANTI-JACKING, stuff is also very good and worth looking into.

If someone has your Keys and steals your car, and does not enter the code into the hidden Black Jax, it allows them enough ignition time to drive it far enough away and them immobilizes the whole car. A better system than the tracker cause the thieves don't get to Rag your car b4 you get it back.

I will probably be getting a tracker fitted, probably be giving the rotweiller the freedom of the house at night, probably be getting the garage door electrified and probably get my blank firing pistol converted to live ammo!

The Black Jax sounds like a good system. Other immobilisers that won't let the car start are OK but if you are threatened with violence to get your keys they will also threaten you to obtain the entry code number. At least that system lets them think they've got away and gives you chance take other measures before it locks up. Main down side I guess is having to enter the number every time you start the car.

I've installed a tracker in mine. Cost £230 to buy, easily fitted myself and can be set to report the cars location under a range of conditions and at varying intervals. I can track the location of my car on a map from my laptop via the application that comes with it or on any PC via the internet. Can control / programme the device from my PC or via text messages. Costs me about 1p per day to run it the way I've got it set up at present.

I'm in South Manc too Anakin so I'll be looking out for our Roc R when it arrives next year.

I've got tracker, unfortunately no discount on my current insurance. Maybe in future if I move to another company. It's annoying to remember to inform the tracking company if you travel through channel tunnel often.
