My house has an integral garage, so i need to reverse in otherwise its abit tight to open the door comfortably. It isn't the biggest garage in the world so it takes a bit of concentration to get it right.
Have you ever tried to parallel park with your stereo at the max? The reverse sensor had a similar effect in this situation . it was drivng me mad. Is there an way to temporarily shut it up? i couldn't see anything obvious...

I have the standard cd changer unit - is that the rds-510? So I don't think that changes anything for me, but I wonder if that will maybe filter through eventually.
Who would apply the firmware upgrades? Dealer at serivce?

In my opinion I would hope this can be altered on vagcom somewhere but i'm not familiar enough with the program myself.

I think what Trix is saying is she doesnt have an idea either, just an opinion.
Im sure it can be turned off via VAG-com. Dont think the poster wants it disabling completely though so not really the solution he/she is looking for as i notice they used the words "temporarily shut it up"
vag-com will not be able to change it as its to do with the firmware on the headunit outputting to the speakers.
yeh i think the new firmware would work with rcd-510 as well. there is a thread about the firmware update in tech talk somewhere.
What I was thinking of was the PDC Volume settings on the head unit. Played around with that today but that just alters how much the radio is muted while the reversing bleep is sounded. Not quite what was required
