wipers....again!

Post by fimael »

Has anyone else heard a little rumour that VW are saying the wiper fault is sporadic and they're suggesting it's a dealer issue? I've heard that they're suggesting that the wiper smear's due to whatever fluids the dealer's are using to clean/shine the cars with pre-collection. Think it's a pretty lame excuse. I'm still stuck driving a car with super-S**T windscreen wipers....and a dealer who refuses to replace the damn things!!...ARRGHHH...dreading the rainy season! Does anyone know if VW have acknowledged this as a problem and if there's any fix?

They refuse to do anything? So, hypothetically...you're driving down a B road in the rain, it suddenly starts raining really hard, impaired by your wipers you cant see anything, and have an accident and get seriously hurt, and VW are saying it's not their problem that they've sold you an unsafe product? Smearing wipers wouldn't get through an MOT.

i used burnishing gel on my windows to strip them right down to bare glass, no different, used rain racer water repellent, great product ....no difference on the smear front, went to the dealers but id just washed the car and didn't want to wet it again to demonstrate the issue although they said they would be willing to replace the wipers, arms, screen, whatever, they can see no active recall but said they would treat it as a safety issue and sort it one way or another...seem to be a different response dealer-dealer...
