Extras
Extras
Hi all,
STILL awaiting my new baby (ordered 20th June - provisional build week 42!), and the temptation is growing to keep adding things to the order. My question for the forum is: is the Winter Pack worth it? And am I missing anything that anybody would recommend? Leathers are out - too expensive, and I didn't particularly like them - but do I need anything else?

Hi Ka1975
alot of us would recommend the tyre pressure indicator its only £35 but could prove invaluable! just remember if you change your order at this stage it may get delayed, as you can see from my signature i'm scheduled for build week 41 & its now frozen so no changes. might be worth checking with the dealer..

Re: Extras
The winter packs good, the heated seats are great, and I would hope the heated washer jets will prove handy come the frosty winter. And ye, def get tyre pressure warning cos you cant tell if the tyres are soft cos the sidewalls are so hard. The folding mirrors are very handy too and you get puddle lights on them which are handy when its really dark.

I haven't gone for the winter pack...ive ordered leather and xenons so wasn't sure its worth it. The car will be in the garage overnight anyway. Why don't they do a heated screen!

Re: Extras
I didnt order the winter pack, and in my humble opinion you dont need it, i took delivery of mine in January right before the cold snap / snow that brought the country grinding to a halt, and i found that the Scirocco heated up very quickly, washer jets either didnt freeze or were clear in under two minutes, and without leather the seats didnt feel cold, i was impressed how quickly the car came up to temperature given the -5 deg outside, so in my opinion ( and its just my opinion ) the only extras you need are the tyre pressure monitor & dynaudio, but xenons would be nice also, all the rest are just add ons.
Re: Extras
i believe the heated screen/quick clear system (i'm guessing thats what you are refering to) on fords is patented by ford.leanneq wrote:Why don't they do a heated screen!

Re: Extras
It was - but our Passat has a heated windscreen similar to what Ford have been doing for years, so I guess they've either developed a way round the patent or paid Ford to use of the technology. So it would appear there's no reason why VW couldn't offer it as an option across all models.trix wrote:i believe the heated screen/quick clear system (i'm guessing thats what you are refering to) on fords is patented by ford.leanneq wrote:Why don't they do a heated screen!

Re: Extras
Thanks - I've added the flat tyre indicator and winter pack to my order. Oh, and the electrically foldable wing mirrors. Why not eh? I've always hated having to fold the buggers...

Re: Extras
Only downside with heated front screen are the fine vertical lines you see constantly in the windscreen. Though admittedly handy for the few times I ever had to use them.leanneq wrote:I haven't gone for the winter pack...ive ordered leather and xenons so wasn't sure its worth it. Heard from people that if affects satnav reception. Not that's it's an issue since the Scirocco doesn't have heated screen as an option anyway!
However, at least VW know about the technology...

And are available for older VWs...

Might just have to buy a can of de-icer for now
