Glad you'r enjoying the car, if you fancy some different splashes of colour how about doing some bits yourself?? have a look at Candy Monster's how to's on painting the 'A' pieces to give a different look, maybe it will give you some ideas....

Unless of course there is an easier way to do this which I cannot find in the instructions which are too complicated anyway?

Minor gripe is the wheel arch gap which is too big TBH for a coupe.

I think the glasses storage is more for 'spectacles' rather than any D&G's/Chanel/Diors.

You shouldn't have to do this. Just press the selection button and choose the disc you want and it'll change to that disc.

i am still waiting for mine, but i recall in the test car, the DSG paddle shifters were very small and close to the steering wheel spokes, and if you want to shift whilst turning, you have to do it with arms crossed.

i have found a place that makes aftermarket extension blades you can stick on.

also the early model's steering wheel and the dull generic design of the interior, compared to the new Mazda 3

If you lift it about a foot, foot and a half first and hold it there for a second or two it'll all run onto the drainage area and not into the boot! I know it's not ideal but better than a soggy boot

Having had the car a month, I have now formed some gripes....

• Stupid Wing mirror control knob - what random process did they use to choose the order of selection on the door mirror control? The heated selection two clicks away from 0, and that the knob has to be a L for the mirror down function to work, which means its never at 0, which makes 0 pointless.
• You have to select fold and unfold for mirrors rather than being automatic on remote lock.
• Why isn't it a full closure alarm?
• Cheap looking cup holders
• Ride height
• Why not electronic key?
• Takes ages to pump the seat from short arse to lanky position for wife and I respectively.
  
  On the whole though, I'm really chuffed.

So it's not just my wipers then! I find that there's always a little triangle of 'smear' which is EXACTLY in line with my left eye... I'm about 6'2" and have the seat in the lowest position.

Oh, and if I'm in a tight parking space, and I can only open the doors one notch, then I often snag some body part on the top of a glass. Usually an ear.

Um...I think that's it. Honestly. Not the most expensive car at my office, but everyone wants it...

Well that's the problem with any coupe, as the doors are longer than on a 4-door model.

And I'd like to be able to see the average fuel consumption over a longer period of time rather than it being reset every time I start the car

have they not got 2 sets of readings like corrado's and i assume others? One which is long term and one more 'trip' ish?

There are 3, instant, the current journey (1) and the whole set of journeys (2) since last reset on the trip or via the steering wheel. (*) appears in the centre display when that mpg is displayed. (for MY2010 white dials MFD with Highline computer)

Main issues -

1. the large heavy doors with 2 settings to stay open - hard when parking sometimes
2. wiper smear thing that we moan about - only at drivers side and in direct eye line
3. shallow door pockets
4. no gas bonnet struts - i never had them but golfs etc had them so why not the new vw? + still no after market stuff
5. coming home lights - you need to flash to get them to work? - why not have them on automatic like the leaving home ones?
6. like number 4 - no metal pedals like golf gti`s? skimping again

Maybe be a lot there and a repeat of others but the car is still the best I`ve owned

Moulting glovebox interior. Does anyone else have this? Reached in for some papers + the nav DVD case which I'd meant to take indoors ages ago, to find that everything is covered in tiny black fibres. They'd even managed to 'electrostatically' work their way into the innards of the case, the leaflet etc.

Other niggles are (as discussed elsewhere) the impracticality of 'into-groove' frameless windows in icy conditions (as opposed to 'press-against-rubber-from-the-outside-only' frameless windows, which seem to work perfectly well without high speed wind noise probs on other cars); the wonder of how a tailgate can be so designed as to trap water and release it when lifted, although in fairness it doesn't normally enter the boot when not windy; if I sit low enough to be able to have a clear view out of the rear window (lowest position), the steering wheel is still a bit too high (lowest position, but any lower would start to obscure the instruments); some rattles on rough road surfaces; slight graunchiness on the clutch pedal (commented on elsewhere); I think the gearchange is starting to get a bit notchy, hopefully something the dealer can fix, maybe just lube on the linkage; 18" Pirelli standard tyres are very prone to aquaplaning at speed with fairly violent deflection of the wheel (compared to the 25 year old but somewhat more powerful rear engined car that I also drive, which goes through standing water without flinching).

On the plus side, the chassis is excellent and steering feedback is very good for an FWD car and gives very clear messages about the significant reduction of grip experienced by the Pirellis below about 7 C.

I've had my 2.0TSI for about 3 weeks now and managed 3000 miles already so my gipes would be.....

1. Electric folding mirrors.....Wish they were automatic other than having to use the switch all the time.
2. Cup holders.....Would have liked them to have been the same as the Golf GTI. Looks really cheap.
3. No sports pedals or sill cover.
4. Boot a bit sticky on frosty mornings.
5. No option of a heated windscreen (Really miss that)
6. Wanted the newer climate controls....I think they look much better.
7. Just doesnt seem to be that that bit quicker than my old car.
8. Gear change seems a bit lengthy in my opinion. Wasnt expecting a "Quickshift" but could have been better. I suspect the gearboxes and linkages are the same for all manual cars.
9. Dynaudio isnt what I expected it be....I've played with the settings and it's a bit better now.
10. Could do with being lowered a bit....too big a gap between wheel and arch.
11. REALLY difficult to keep clean lol....Yip, got a Candy White!!


Overall i'm very very happy with the car and love it to bits so my gripes are kinda minor. Still a gorgeous car and lovely to drive!!

I'll be posting a Scirocco vs Focus ST soon!!

good to see you're racking up the mileage ASBOST, I hope you know what i'm going to say about your list of gripes though... quite a few can be dealt with by doing a few mods
