Problems with activate the foglights

well, when you have put them on surely you know youve put them on!!!!


plus having the fog lights on is cool, it makes the front end look loads more aggressive, they dont blind people like lasers, you've bought a cool car now try and be cool!!!

I used to do that the first time I bought a car which had front fog lights. It was a Vectra 2.0, so I could go round showing off. I was only 23 though...
Call me old, but I don't do that any more though.

You could trick it, bridge the pins with a resistor. . . .

I'm gonna throw vag-com on the car later anyway for some other stuff, i'll see if i can find the option to tell the car its a peasant spec model

x5pea has a gt but has taken the fogs out all together & changed the front grill see http://www.sciroccocentral.co.uk/forum/ ... 1&start=40 so there isn't even anywhere for them to go.

Hmm, if noone does it before, and it still needs to be done, I might have time to have a go at removing one of the bulbs over the weekend (if I can work out how to), and then try see if the VAGCOM option does the trick...

That actually might be worth thinking about... I'll have to give fogs and full beam a try when I get a dark road to see what it looks like before coding it though...
However I worry I might end up looking cool, looking loads more aggressive and not blinding people like lasers.

sorry but in my opinion having your fog lights on when you don't need them is not big & is not clever & WILL get you pulled over by the police!

In Norway it's also legal, as in Denmark, to drive with ONLY the fog lights on during daylight hours. But not both fogs and lowbeams. After it gets dark, it's illegal to drive with fogs on, unless visibility is reduced.

So I would like to know if it's possible to have the fogs come on when you have the lightswitch set to auto during daylight hours, and get the car to automatically switch to lowbeam when it get's dark. Having it use the same sensor as the coming/leaving home lights.
Is that possible with VAG-COM?

Yes you can do that with VCDS but I tryed, and it won't work on this car.

i can't really say that they ever bother me when i see people driving with them on, it doesn't ever dazzle me however i think the problem is that a lot of car advert show the fog lights on in some part of the ad and this in turn encourages crappy modders to turn them on as if its a mod they have added

The fog lights are more trouble than their worth,, it was very foggy the other night so I thought I would turn my fogs on,,they came on ,, though my main headlights went off leaving me doing 70mph in the dark..was not good.

Those of us who have DSG boxes don't have much choice as the car will creep forward if we let the brake off (& any other auto box for that matter)

And I don't put it in neutral at every red light !

thats fair Nobby but there are still plenty of others out there who seem to have lost the ability to use their handbrake who can't use that excuse.

Anyway back on topic...

the roc will be my first vw so i'm abit in the dark (pun intended) about david golding's problem above about trying to try the fogs on & the headlights going off..
(i get the feeling i'm going to be living with my head in the manual for a while after delivery)

I know what David means. If you drive with the lights in Auto, as I would imagine most do, and you leave home and the weathers fine, then an hour into your journey once its pitch dark, it also gets foggy, the only way to put the fogs on is to move the light switch from Auto through the sidelight option and onto dip, and its shit scarey and bloody dangerous, because the lights go out, then take what seems like an age to come back on to dip. This happened to me and I feel it a massive fault with the Auto light system. The only way around this is not to use the Auto light function and just be old fashioned and do the lights yourself. Why you cant turn on the fogs when the light switch is in Auto is a mystery to me, and a disappointment to be quite honest. How are you meant to know when leaving home what the weathers going to do?
