ESP button

Post by maisbitt »

Just a small query, with almost no importance at all in the grand scheme of things....does your "ESP off" button light up when you turn it off?

I get the slow blinking yellow warning symbol on the dash when it is off, but the button you press to turn it off doesn't light up on mine (and it did with my old MK5 Golf). Just wondering whether the button doesn't light or whether teh LED/bulb has gone in my switch.

I noticed that to turn ESP off, you can't just press the button, you have to hold it pressed for around a second (I suppose that's to stop you tapping it off accidentally).

Wigit - so does that mean the "ESP OFF" text on your button does light up when you have switched the ESP off?

My button does not light up when it is switched off, but im under the impression that it should. :?

Thanks - so mine isn't faulty. It does seem strange that the button doesn't light up when ESP is off, but the same button on my old MK5 Golf used to light up. If the flashing light is on in the dash then I suppose you don't need a reminder on the button as well.

The flashing yellow thing is annoying. i drive with the esp off a lot of the time, it doesn't switch the esp off, just the traction control, and i do a slicker job of that than the computer anyway, i get a better exit without it cutting the power, it's nicer to drive that way. It'd be better if the button lit up , and the yellow light was solid, not flashing.

during the sprint at inters on the last run a couple of us tried runs with esp back on, lets just say off and using your right foot was quicker
