I'm pretty sure you can slide a cover over, remember seeing one in the showroom

There's a cover that slides across, although it's fairly thin and still allows light through. More of a sun blind really. The roof only tilts (about 2 cm) and doesn't slide.

Exactly right.
Sunroof pros:-
- Lightens up the cabin
- Marginally better than opening the windows at high speed, but then you have air-con anyway

Cons:-
- Only tilts, and the sides have an expanding rubber seal, so in fact only the rear gets any ventilation
- When the cover is slide across, it's like a sunblind, so still lets through a bit of light and presumably quite a bit of the heat.
- Although it looks like from the outside it should be panaromic, it isn't and there's switches and lights in the middle between the sunroof and the windscreen.
- You lose the sunglasses holder, even though it's not panaromic!

I didn't spec it, but the car they could get quickly had one, so they let me have it for an additional £400. Would I pay for one next time? - Nope! Not a tilt only anyway, Tilt/Slides are great, since they are good for ventilating heat out...
