Hello, I was hoping someone might have any insight on this. Does my Scirocco actually have this sensor? I have a basic 1.4Tsi (UK spec) with no extras added on. I've now read online somewhere that in Skoda Octavias (for example), there is no Longitudinal sensor unless you have AWD or Hill Hold.
Reason for my question:
A few months ago I was experimenting with the 'Carista' app (during a free trial period) and I think I might have inadvertently enabled something my car didn't have - Hill Hold is the most likely culprit.
It didn't cause any warnings on the dash but I happened to do a DTC scan using another app (Car Scanner Pro) and it identified an U111100 Function limitation due to missing message error, as well as the following errors in the Brakes category: 01279 Longitudinal Acceleration Sensor G251 (this one says "pending fault present"), and 02085 incorrect control module installed. I took photos of these before I then cleared them using the same app, to see if they'd come up again. They haven't. And there have never been any warning lights on the dash.
But a friend of mine has since lent me a handheld plug-in scanner (the Ancel VD700) which also didn't find any DTCs, but I used the option it has to view real time readings from the ABS/ESP monitors etc - and the reading for the longitudinal acceleration sensor G251 is completely blank - not zero, or erroneous, but blank. Lateral G200 and Yaw G202 both have readings as do the wheel speed sensors.
What's happened to me seems fairly similar to this thread: https://www.audi-sport.net/xf/threads/427323/ - although in their case the ESP light came on. They got rid of it (and got the readings from G251 back) by disapplying the Hill Hold change they'd made - in their case on VCDS. However I'm certain I did make sure I didn't have anything set that my car didn't have the last time I used Carista.
So - does my car actually have this sensor? I haven't been able to locate it in the usual place Golfs have them (panel on side of glovebox), but nor have I found a lateral sensor in the space under the steering column where Golfs have those. VW's self study programme for the Scirocco suggests they moved these sensors into the ABS control unit itself in the engine bay. I'm struggling to understand why I wouldn't have an ESP light on and no DTCs are re-occurring, if the car is expecting it to be there. So that makes me wonder whether there shouldn't be one!
If I do have this sensor, is it possible it's lost its basic settings as a result of Carista messing it up, and would need to be re-coded?
Many thanks to anyone who has any ideas...
