How to tell if I once had headlight washer jets?

Hi,

I bought a PFL 2008 Scirocco last year. It was a CAT S front damage and subsequently had a new front bumper.

It was a good spec, with heated front tan leather seats, pan roof and dynaudio.

I'm just wondering if theres any tell tale sign that it had headlight washer jets? No warning lights or anything.

On that model year, they were only available if they car had the optional Xenon lights. They were very scarce on the first year models due to supply issues.

Also washer bottle would have two pumps with pipework to the front.

Of course, after a front end bump they could have all been removed and replaced with non headlight washer parts!

I bought a non headlight washer equipped 2017 plate last year (cat N) and had to replace the washer bottle as it smashed and had no front bumper... But nothing else damaged on the front at all. I still am trying to figure out how it got damaged.

If you have the build info for your car, look for feature 8X1 (Headlamp washer system). That will tell you if it was built with it. Mine was an Oct./08 build, with it.

The only way to get headlamp washers with halogen lights is for the car to be specced with the optional Winter Pack which comprises of heated seats (cloth trim), headlamp washers and low washer fluid indicator.

Just to add for completeness, headlamp washers are standard fit with Xenon and heated seats with leather trim.

I'll just add a discaimer that this was true back in 2011 when I specced my Scirocco. It may be different with later cars.
