Constant metallic buzzing only when I'm applying throttle

I've been having this issue for almost as long as I've have owned the car, it happens only under load and the sound doesn't change when the RPM changes. I hear it only when accelerating, the second I'm taking my foot off the throttle I can't hear it anymore. I'm not sure if it makes that sound in neutral, I believe it doesn't but it's hard to notice because it's not exactly loud to begin with.

Since I've had this issue I've changed, among other stuff, for unrelated matters: Turbo, transmission, clutch, injectors and the sound remained.

I'ev also tried taking off the stereo fuse, I thought it's some sort of electrical interference, but didn't help.

I'm willing to take any long shots because I'm clueluess what this might be. and so are the mechanics...

Please send help :D

Hi, sorry to hear that you have this problem.

My car had a buzzing / rattle noise under acceleration, between 1,800 and 2,500 rpm. It turned out to be the bonnet strut vibrating against the engine bay panels and we cured it by putting a piece of foam padding under the strut before we closed the hood. Try that - it might be the answer? If it isn't then at least you can cross it off the list of possibles.

Run the engine with the car stationery and the bonnet up - if there is no noise then it could be this vibration. If the noise is still there with the hood up, then I'm wrong.

Have you checked out all the other posts on here about vibrations, including the heat shielding under the exhaust system?

Hi, thank you so much for your input,

Tried revving it in neutral while stationary and I couldn't hear any buzzing, so you might be right. Is your bonnet strut hydraulical or just the regular/manual one?

While I informed the mechanic about this issue, he looked mostly at the engine bay because the sound comes from the front of the dashboard/engine bay, but if the bonnet strut is not the culprit, heat shields are most likely worth investigating!

And oh yes, I've been googling this for a couple of days already like a madman, most issues were regarding diffs and power steering for some reason

It's not the bonnet strut unfortunately :( but I'm confident it sounds from under the hood.

OK, have you done a search of the other topics on this site? I put "heat shield" into the search box and the results sounded promising. Not all to do with the heat shielding, but also other bits under the hood which have been traced to make a rattle noise.

Good hunting !

To be fair I just googled, so not specifically on this site but I will go ahead :D Again, due to the fact that the sound is not loud you can't really pinpoint from where it sounds from under the hood or if it sounds at all so I can only blindly try stuff.

I found this video " onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; from https://www.sciroccocentral.co.uk/forum ... se#p177352" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; . That sound, although a bit more louder, is exactly the sound I'm having :)

Some guy in the youtube comments said it's the fuel line rattle, however, they guys who have this issue comment how this is happening only within 1800-2200ish RPM and no one mentions how lifting the foot off the throttle instantly stops that sound.

But it's worth giving a shot I guess

Hello, I have seen people say that the Air Con pipes that come through the bulkhead can make a noise, may be worth having a look at them, all the best !!

See if you have any dry leaves in the scuttle around the wipers. I used to get a buzzing from them as the speed picked up. Cleared them out and the sound disappeared.
