"Climate" Front Windscreen / Heated Front Windscreen
I'd been looking at trading in and buying a new Rocco - but find it impossible to order one with a "climate" front windscreen or a heated front windscreen. Living in Scotland, both my wife and I have deemed this to be an absolute essential on any new car. Does anyone know whether it is possible to get a retrofit for the new/facelift model of the Rocco, or have I simply overlooked the options on the configurator?

I'm pretty sure Ford have a patent on that design. So as above, Fords only.

No - the VAG Group offer the "Ford" design of heated front windscreen over a range of models, indeed I have a Skoda Yeti with such. VW also have their own new design of heated front windscreen that they call a "Climate" windscreen which uses chemicals laminated into the windscreen rather than a web of barely visible wires to offer the heating elements, as is for instance now available as an additional option on the Golf R./////AMG wrote:I'm pretty sure Ford have a patent on that design. Not available on rocco it is something for new platform cars. The climate screen is something that's available on most VAG vehicles that based on the new MQB (golf mk7) platform.

I think it's a shame that more cars dont have a variation of this. I am pretty sure my partner's mini has a heated front screen, so I am not sure how far the ford patent goes

Can anyone find out exactly when the Ford patent expires/expired? I've seen dates ranging from about 5 years ago to later this decade

Thanks for posting that. Will need some serious DIY wiring as these heated front screens intended for rallying need some serious ampage. I seem to recall 40A for each side from previous discussions.
