Brake pad and disc change help...

Post by Ferrero »

Hi.

Got a 12 Plate GT TDI 170 DSG

Changing front and rear pads, only got as far as the front one and hit snags. It's my first time ever doing anything like this so apologies for coming across all Jerry.

So the calliper is off (both parts) but I cannot get the disc off? I've removed the little T30 bolt and expected it to just come off but feel like the disc is still being held on by something...

Should I not have the handbrake on, or have my gearbox in some crazy configuration? I have a DSG box so if it's supposed to be 'in gear' I don't know what the automatic equivalent of that it.

Cheers in advance

Had the same problem myself, I was able put the brakes back together, back on the car, and took it to my local garage, he himself couldn't do it without buying a special tool (I don't know what one but probably easily found online)
I was later told that it's designed to be like that.
