So today leaving work I dropped my passenger window to talk to someone to find it just stopped and I couldn't reset it upwards. thought maybe the fuse just went so drove home and tested and this was ok. I took off the door card and had a closer look. I can only guess at either the motor or the window regulator. I did the obvious and tested both switches. during testing, I hear it clicking but only in the down position but the glass didn't move. left it a little while as it got dark and went to double-check I locked the car and decided to test it again this time the motor slightly moved up and again downwards but with no glass movement.
My question is how do I go about removing the motor to test it and what do i need to strip down beforehand as I have the door card already off and can see the motor etc I just don't want to make something difficult for myself or breaking something
any help would be greatly appreciated
Shaun.

Re: Window problem - Regulator or Motor Advice needed.
Before taking anything off try some WD40 on the working parts. Might have just started to seize.

Ok so stripped down and pulled motor off the regulator. Motor is free running in both directions. I have soaked all moving parts in wd40 would it be safe to say it would be the actual regulator that has gone by means of rot in the cabling ?. If anyone has removed these before do I just untether the white plastic pieces connecting to the centre?

Still have some issues. So from the previous post I ordered a replacement online but it did not look the same, I fitted all the same and it worked up until a week ago and not surprisingly the Motor went caput. Bought a replacement regulator and Motor for the car from a local spares store. It is identical to the old one as I kept it anyway fitted the new one and works now it seems my window juts out at the top but all works fine it auto drop and comes up when I open and close the door so all electronics are working.
The only way I can securely close the window is to open the door close it with a small bit of pressure on the window to auto-close if that makes sense. I fitted it exactly the same way and cannot see what is causing it as they are pretty straight forward when it comes to screw fixings of the regulator and window securing bolts.
Has anyone else had any issues when fitting a new regulator/Motor/Window?
Cheers
