RCD 330 Plus Vs RNS510 opinions and help please

Post by Dreamer »

Ok; I have the RNS 510 with bluetooth module and all works well. However I use Spotify with a family account and have no way of choosing a playlist or different album via MDI.

I can select a playlist before I set off and change tracks but that's the end. I do 3 hour journeys twice a week so I listen to a lot of music.

I am considering the RCD 300 Plus so I can use the CarPlay function. If anyone can share their experience with this unit, I would appreciate any help.

Things like GPS accuracy with the phone being the source of GPS and placed in the centre console or thereabouts. Also sound quality vs the RNS510.

I am a where to get the NONAME version 187B. I just need a reputable seller if possible.

What about using the voice functions on the phone? that's what I do and no trouble so far. Mine has CarPlay but dealer wants £200 to enable it

I tried to use Siri but the phone said Spofity was not supported. I can get it to play but not to change Albums or playlists.Hence I was looking to go down the Carplay route as everything is via the phone.

I took the plunge and ordered from Aliexpress cost of purchase with delivery was £240 I was then charged £64 for import tax 20% vat and £24 handling fee by Uk customs. Not the end of the work but worth pointing out

Also be away of drop shippers claiming to be uk sellers. You will still be hit with tax

I went for this unit Noname Carplay RCD330 RCD330G Plus 6.5 MIB 187B SW 5406

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/3285241 ... 3b8bY56gMm

The unit was plug and play. I lost info about media in the MFD but knew that would happen.

Park pilot visual and audio work perfect.

No climate graphics but knew that also.

CarPlay is brilliant. Definitely worth it.

Phone calls are crystal clear and Siri is spot on.

Steering buttons work

Illumination works

If you need any more info happy to answer

Superb. I use apple maps and google maps when I go to remote places as I can download an area for offline use. Its fast slick and Spotify works a treat. Im going to solder a USB direct the the board so I can route it under the console negating the need for cables in the front which I hate.

I will post photos and links tomorrow once complete and tested.

I will take a video of the features so you get a good insight to it in full flow

Soldered the USB cable to the main board so I can keep the cable connected in front of the gear leaver instead of direct in the front

I followed this guide https://rcd330plus.com/showthread.php?tid=26

Rankie USB 2.0 Extension Cable, A-Male ... urn false;

The cable has a yellow wire. Just ignore it. It’s not needed.

One thing to note. Once the cable is connected to the board it will disable the front connector but I’m not going to be using that so no problem

Once installed I set the park pilot to show scirocco graphic and enabled the steering button to activate Siri. Job done[emoji736]
