Iv got a scirocco 1.4 twincharged and have just renewed the timing chain myself. On day 1 the alternator was removed from its mounts however, all wires were still connected as i didnt have the right tool to remove the crank pulley so, i called it a day and went to connect the battery to lock the car. The terminal sort of welded itself to the batter with big sparks. So i quickly removed it then connected it again this time much fewer sparks which is normal. After having everything fixed the following day i started the car back up and the battery light was on. So i tested the battery n saw that it wants being charged at 11.68v and decreasing while the engine is running.
I told myself its the alternator ill just replaced it so i did so today. 3hours in the rain just to find out the alternator might not be the issue.
Iv attempted to diagnose it but cant find much information on these cars. Like is there a fuse and what tests should be done. Has anyone had this issue before or is anyone good with diagnosing electrical issues?

Check the engine bay fuses, the small box on the left of the engine.
And then the big fuses that are on front.
I have also electrical diagrams in my main topic, second post.
