Non starting after a 45min drive

Post by chrisgunton »

Hey gang,

A few times in the last couple of months, following a drive of around 45min or so, Ive parked up to do some shopping (10min) and then the car has trouble starting.

I managed to get it started this time by platting my foot on the accelerator when turning the key, but it sometimes takes 4-5 times to get going :eyepop:

Any suggestions?

First thing to do is have the car scanned for fault codes which may point you towards the cause. Off the top of my head a faulty Engine Coolant Temperature (ETC) sensor can cause such symptoms bit best to get it scanned. If it starts when planting the accelerator pedal it implies one or more cylinders are being flooded. Could be a faulty injector.

I should have mentioned I have done that and there's no fault codes stored, not related to this anyway!
