Hi all,
Just recently noticed a constant hissing noise from the brake pedal, when the brakes are applied the hissing dissapears and comes back a few seconds later after releasing the pedal. Brakes are still functioning 100%
Had a search on here and nothing really comes up... unless im just being silly!
Anyone ever had the same issue/common things to check?
Any info will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

I've seen a similar post on here about 6 months ago, so trying searching again. If my memory serves me right it was a leaking vacuum pipe to the servo.

Just had a search, it was a 1.4 tsi the previous post. Might be worth checking the vacuum pipe though.

had a check, cant seem to see anything out of the ordinary! the noise is only in the car, tried twisting the rubber shroud and feeling if its split but nothing seems to be resolving the issue.

Hi Owen,
I had the same symptoms as you on my 58 plate & it was the brake servo that had a leak.
Be prepared if it's the same for you as the job would of cost me about £1200 because they have to drop the engine on the RHD models to get to the servo.
Luckily for me I had extended warranty.
Good luck.

£1200
Think i'll try and live with it!
Parts on the net are about £30. May be worth getting underneath and having a play! Thanks for the info tho!

Re: Hissing from the brake pedal
Hi guys,
This has been going on in my car since before Xmas. Strangely a VW and a indy garage has said that everything seems fine!?
But because the braking system is working doesn`t mean I want to hear that slight air escaping noise!!
Does anyone have a picture where the pipe from the servo to manifold is and what to look for? fluid or worn pipe perhaps?
cheers
