So we'll be going to Scotland (specifically Stirling) for 5 months between January and May next year and I intent to take my Rocco up with us. I need to change my tyres before then and am facing a bit of a dilemma. Since Malta (where I currently live) is very warm, we only use summer tires. Since Scotland is much colder, can anyone who lives close to that area give any advice on if I should buy winter or summer tires? Keeping in mind that I would come back to Malta in May so would need summer tires again.
I live in Central Scotland, about 40 miles from Stirling and run summer tyres all the year round without any issue. Apart from in the Highlands, the majority of people use summer tyres all the year round.
Only advice I will give you is bring a jumper and an umbrella

Asking as we wanted to do the North Coast 500, which would take us to probable the highest point we can go. However this would be only for a couple of days, and would be around April, so I imagine it would be a bit warmer.
Don't worry your summer tyres will be fine even if you venture up north to do the NC500, although I wouldn't count on it being much warmer in April. It was minus one last night down here
Even when it snows, the summer tyres are fine as long as you drive to the conditions. It only seems to be BMW drivers who change onto winter tyres. I've been driving for over 35 years and never needed winter tyres.

I really don't get what it is about people buying them. If you know how to drive properly (low revs to get you going instead of spinning the wheels like mad) and don't try and do the same speeds when it's really not appropriate to the conditions then you're fine.
