FUEL FILTER 2 LITRE TSI 2009 NEVER CHANGED

Had car since new, main dealer maintained 65000 miles should this not have been done, mechanic said it is usually done if felt there is a need.
there does not appear to be a specific time to when this is done. does any body know the official vw policy on this . been looking at going away from main dealer and asked another garage about service charges, without prompting he said i bet they have never changed the fuel filter .Is the main dealer
being under hand.

VW not longer see the fuel filter on petrol models as a service item and thus no longer have a recommended change interval and hence why it's not changed during a service, unless the customer requests it be done.

Personally, I would change it every 40k miles / 48 months.

I doubt they will blank you as it's an opportunity to get some more money off you....
