Engine revs.

Post by Tom1964 »

Hi guys a bit of knowledge would be appreciated.

Just bought myself a 1.4 160 Scriocco. Not having owned one before I am curious but the revs seem to be limited too 4000 both in neutral and under acceleration. There is a slight delay when you put your foot down but the motor does seem quick enough. I have googled but I wanted to know if this was normal before taking it to a garage for investigation. I have read that some manufactures did put rev limiter on to avoid blowing the engine so to speak

Thanks.

Revs are limited in neutral but they should not be limited in gear when accelerating as long as the engine is up to operating temperature. It should rev to the redline in the lower gears before hitting the actual rev limiter, which I'm not sure is set at on the 1.4

First thing to do is have the car scanned to see if any faults are logged.
