Petrol Flap not locking!

Post by LaddysSciroc »

Hi Guys..

Had my 2009 GT TSI Scirocco for about 4 months now, only to realise now, that my petrol flap doesn't actually lock when I central lock the car. So anyone can get access to the petrol. Does anyone know what the problem might be and know of an easy fix. All advice welcome, local garage has already said it'll be the motor without even looking at it.. Read on some posts it could be the Solenoid..

Thanks

Sounds like the fuel flap actuator: http://www.sciroccocentral.co.uk/forum/ ... or#p204280" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

My 2009 GT flap doesn't lock either. I'm not sure there's actually a lock in there!

I had another look at mine at lunch time. There's a plastic "arm" at the top of the flap, with a hole in it. Is that what the lock is supposed to go into? Because when the flap is closed, that arm is against smooth plastic, no sign of a lock!

Indeed - there is no actual 'lock' to speak of, the flap just closes flush to the bodywork so it can't be opened. Only when the car is unlocked can the flap be opened by gently pushing on the flap.

Actuator, solenoid, motor are different people's names for the same thing. Even with the flap unlocked it's so difficult to get a syphon tube in a modern car's filler cap that in my view it's not really worth worrying about.

On my car I can open the flap whether the car is locked or not.

I'm not worried about it though.
