As a past owner of two Scirocco's (1.4 TSI and 2.0 TSI GT), I just wanted to say how sorry I was to hear the Scirocco will cease production at the end of the year (I assume the reports are true). What a wasted opportunity but I always knew 'Dieselgate' would hit VW hard financially and that they would have to focus on key mainstream models.
How things can change; for example diesel has moved from being a 'clean' to a 'dirty' fuel. Anyway one day there might be an electric Scirocco?

Re: End of the line
Even if the "diesel gate" fiasco hadn't happened, I still don't think the Scirocco would be replaced. The MK3 wasn't really a big success with regards to sales and very few people seem to want a 2 door coupe these days. I previously thought that VW might drop the 3 door Golf with the Rocco slotting into this market. The T-Roc will probably sell quite well though.
One thing VW do knowvabout though, is how to make money and sell cars.

Re: End of the line
I first learnt about the production ceasing back in July last year. A sad moment to hear indeed. I also learnt that the last orders for the R were mid Feb this year.. Ill be coming to the end of my R lease in November but Lookers in Newcastle have kindly agreed to hold one for me until then. Im gladly going to be driving the Scirocco for another 3 years this time. Yes there are more modern drives but in the looks dept not much beats it in its price range. The 3 year continued lease is in part a tribute to be honest.
