Hi everyone, newbie to the forum here!
After many, many years with, ahem, Honda, I have taken a big and scary step and switched allegiance, I am now a very happy owner of a 2013 2.0 TSI R-line, and I have to say I love it!! What a great car it is!
I'm aiming to do a few subtle mods in the future but I am still under my Das Welt warranty (hoping it's worth the paper it's written on if I never need to call on it) so I am limited in what I can do, but one thing I want to do it fit cruise control to the car. Ideally I wanted a car with it fitted out of the box but this one was around at the right time and the right price so went for it.
Now, I have spoken to a local VW specialist who have put my chassis# into their computer and I am told I cannot have it fitted without the car going to VW to have wiring added. They've advised that any cars without CC fitted came from the factory in one of two ways; with the hard wiring but no stalk or software, and without the wiring all together.
Does this sound right?
Obviously the garage isn't going to want to turn down work so in my mind I guess it must be accurate, but for peace of mind I wanted to run it past the knowledge and expertise with you guys here, just so I know like.
Cheers in advance.
Mike.

Re: Unable to fit cruise, hard wiring required?
Thanks for the links Cubrabob, much appreciated
I've scoured them and unfortunately I cannot find anything which helps me to understand if what the garage is telling me is accurate (the cars coming from the factory in one of two ways), unless I am missing something completely obvious which is very possible - it has been a long week!
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thank you.
