Thule roof bars, the response from Thule

Post by Andy b »

I've been looking into why Thule stopped making roof bars for the scirocco & as a cycle shop mechanic we have a Thule rep

I asked him why we can't get roof bars for the scirocco and he contacted Thule with my question

The response back was production was stopped due to cars being damaged by the product

I am as I'm sure many are pretty hacked off about this as I don't want to use a rear mounted cycle carrier and as we know the scirocco isn't tow bar legal

This doesn't leave scirocco owners with many options to carry items that are too large or dirty to put inside the car  :grumpy:

I've had the official VW roof bars on and off the car for the last year. Not damage to my car or rubber seals. The rubber seals do get pulled back and slightly deform when the bars are taken off, but they move back in to place after a few days and you can't tell the bars have been on.
