Rusty screw on inside of door
With the door open, there is a screw head on the lower corner of the door, side closest to the car body.
I have noticed it looks a bit rusty and it's started to annoy my every time I open the door! Before I remove it, what is the fixing for and can anyone help with a part number for a replacement?

I know the one you mean - yes, it's really annoying and I'll be looking to swap mine too..
Had a quick look on here: http://www.oemepc.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; but can't seem to find it on the door parts list.

That website looks quite handy, had a look myself and it's not shown on the door with the rest of the fixings.
This is the screw we are talking about:

yep, that's it.... probably just a standard size that you can get from a hardware shop.. I don't know what it's for though.

Re: Rusty screw on inside of door
It can only be holding trim or seals in place, there's nothing else down there.

Re: Rusty screw on inside of door
I think it's for the trim on the outer edge of the door..
but it's not shown on here (it's a screw, bot a bolt)

Re: Rusty screw on inside of door
Right, I've ordered a couple of the only screws/bolts from the link - I'll pick them up on Thursday, so if they are correct, will be able to give the exact part number.

Does the dirty kick panels and pedals not annoy you more than a rusty screw?

Re: Rusty screw on inside of door
Well, my car is immaculate and it winds me up as it's the only rusty thing you can 'see' on the whole car... and once you see it, you can't forget it...

Re: Rusty screw on inside of door
Immaculate you say. There is mud in your speaker grill, scratches over the door sill plastics, mud on the kick plates and dirt on the pedals
Immaculate, pffffffft

Re: Rusty screw on inside of door
I removed the screw too and there came out a lot of shit and dirt from the inside of the door.
So not very weird that it's halve rotten away.

Re: Rusty screw on inside of door
I had the same problem with my first Scirocco - removed the screw and gave a blast of WD40 - as there was a small quantity of rust !
The screw itself was cleaned (with WD40) and replaced - but my worry was that I could not see into the actual door panel - so had no idea just how much rust was there...
My car was July 2009 - so there seems to be a consistent problem.

Re: Rusty screw on inside of door
Managed to get these and replace them. They were 42p each from the dealers. The new ones actually look very slightly different and come with a nylon washer. Not much left of my old ones either. Added a little white lithium grease in attempt to make them last longer.
