Re: Is This USB Plug and Play?
It's taking power from the head unit. Initially thought it was a fakra socket for one of the aerials but why would that be powered? Perhaps it's a connection intended for an external usb socket?
So first thing to check is you have a spare round yellow 4 pin socket on the back of your head unit. Won't work without that.

I initially thought it was a standalone power supply similar to the cig lighter but as you say it connects to the head unit. So the question is to anyone that has one fitted, does it charge an iPhone?

Re: Is This USB Plug and Play?
Why not just use a USB cable plugged into the MDI port to charge your phone?
I think that USB socket will plug into the same socket in the back of the headunit as the MDI port does as I don't think there is a specific USB input on the back.

I have the iPod 30 pin connector in the MDI for my tunes. Didn't think that it probably uses the same connection as the MDI. I'll invest in a cig lighter adaptor then, shame as I prefer the OEM look.

You could buy a 12V to 5V converter to connect from the cig lighter to the snazzy USB switch
