My Scirocco has gone.....

Post by Kev »

As the founder of the site, needless to say I bought a Scirocco not long they came out and it's been a stupendous car. But today it was time to move on. I'd always planned to change it in 2017 and indeed the replacement was due to be delivered in March but it was moved up the production line due to the colour being discontinued on that model. I'm glad I got it though because the new blue they have is too bright for my liking.

Anyway, after nearly 8 years and 58,000 miles it's bye bye VW Scirocco and hello Audi TTS.

Fear not though, I will still keep the site going. I have no intention of leaving you all high and dry.

Haven't had a chance to really drive much as it's just been in rush hour traffic and pelting rain but hoping to stretch the legs a little at the weekend.

The ride comfort and build quality are much better. The DSG seems smoother too, particularly on the downshifts to 1st and 2nd. The digi dash is a revelation though.

Nice upgrade, but wow, you kept a car for 8 years, longest i have had a car is just under 4 years, but had to get rid due to the dreaded tin worm, usually i fancy a change after a couple of years though

Yes. It's got the Audi equivalent. Comfort is very smooth indeed, dynamic is very stiff. There is also auto which varies depending on the road and individual where you can Set the steering, suspension, exhaust noise, gearbox etc to your liking e.g. suspension on comfort but dynamic steering and auto quattro settings.

haha yes I tend to keep them for a fair while. I'm only on my 4th car since about 1996! I'd always planned to keep it until 2017 and ordered for a March delivery but they discontinued the colour for that model so all the blue ones got pushed up the production and it was built very early. Never mind, it meant I didn't need to get one more MOT as that was due in early March as well.

My commute is only 5 miles each way but I have family in Wales and Northumberland so it got a good run quite often.

I think I possibly hold the record for lowest mileage, mine is an 09 plate (8 years old in March) and have just gone past 27K miles. We do have a 2nd car also though

I was in the Swindon Audi dealership a few weeks ago with a mate who traded his much older TTS in for a Q3RS and I have to say the colours Audi have available right now are brilliant, the blue you chose is spot on!

Nice car :)

On the subject of low milage/year my 58 plate Scirocco has 16k on it.

Nice car...

I get annoyed with the whole idea of VW not bringing out a 4th gen Scirocco because of "shrinking global demand in coupes..." I mean come off it, will Audi take the same stance with the TT?

I will abandon VW completely in 2018. Would love an RS3 saloon then but probably going to be well out of my price range.
