Strange weird experience over a the last few days..

Post by yellowplum »

I have been experiencing a strange vibration from the vehicle specifically in fifth and sixth gear just below 2,000RPM to just over, the entire car vibrates. It only seems to happen if I have a significant load of shopping or something in the boot. Tends to also happen when foot is near or flat out on accelerator.

The only thing I can think of here is the DMF issue..any thoughts?

Then yesterday something even stranger happened, I didn't have the vibration but had a friend with me and tried to replicated it, however on this occasion we had some weird turbo lag (is the only way I can explain it, foot was flat on the accelerator, turbo kicks in just under then shoots forward and then has a blip and the RPM needle shot up to 2.5RPM before falling back down again.

Not sure about the first, could you get a video?

Second one could be clutch slip as you keep pulling from low RPM in high gears. If you are doing 2000rpm and floor it in 6th around when the turbo kicks in, does the needle sweep forward like the wheels are spinning? How many miles are on the car, have you had it remapped?

Thanks for the quick reply.

Yes Revo stage 1, nearly 78K - interesting when it got remapped and the new software complained that I kept the gears are too high asking me to change up. When I had some sensor for the DPF changed I got the place to run it again and make sure it was mapped correctly by the first establishment they told me yes, but that there was a little lag but nothing to worry about.

The needle sweep only happened yesterday for the first time. It did sweep forward, I can try and do a video when I have load in the car, or get a couple of people to sit in the back and see if that works :)

What model is your car might help someone who knows more about them engnies. Guessing its a diesel due to the DPF. How long/many miles have you had the software on for? On my Scirocco the clutch started to slip as soon as i had the software put onto the car. Its alot more noticeable during 5/6th gear pulls. For me it was a new performance clutch.

I've had it for about a year maybe longer, I would have to dig out the receipt to be honest. The engines a 170Tdi CBBB. Did you replace the flywheel? Has anyone replaced the flywheel with a single one, I see Valeo do a conversion kit to a single one.

Definitely the clutch is going it's been doing some slipping going on to the motorway a few times when the turbo kicks in. However I did notice something when I changed the oil the other day that there is a build up of grease around the front of the engine towards directly below the fuel filter. Wondered if oil was leaking onto the clutch causing it to slip. Could this be a cause? Where would it be coming from?
