Sell her at 11k miles or keep her but risk 45k over 3 years.
Folks...
I have a REAL dilemma. My commute is about to increase in the car. I was driving 15 miles to the station then a train to Leeds (3 days a week) but the train is complete fail. I have realised this....
330 a month HP on the car, 250 on standard fuel around town and 260 on train tickets.
I am debating whether to chop in the Roc for a mile muncher or just put the mileage on the ROC as I can get a respectable 38mpg driving to Leeds.
What would YOU do in my shoes? I am going to lose on the ROC now or in the future but...I already drive 30 miles a day to the train station... so is adding 840 miles a month going to make that much difference?

S8N, Im in exactly the same boat at the moment, currently doing up to 700 miles per week, and now on 11,000+ miles
Im seriously considering selling her and getting a cheapo mile muncher as you are and save the cash. I have no doubt that give it 12-18 months I will be car hunting again so it makes no sence just to trade mine in for a diesel 'Roc. Decisions..decisions..

What would I do??
Keep the Roc! - it'll hurt to let it go so early. But .....if finances allow.. buy a cheap runabout - say Polo diesel -a 1.4 turbo diesel will do 50mpg and more on a long run and even around town. 900 miles to Leeds per month = 18 gallons -say 90 pounds (save train fare) and mileage clocked up doesnt matter!
Keep the Roc for weekends and pleasure runs -if you let it go you'll regret!

rocco61, running 2 cars would not be possible unfortunately, so it would mean the 'Roc would have to go
however, I wont be doing these miles forever, so my plan would be to come back to a 'Roc in 12-18months, maybe even find a low mileage Scirroco R

Going to have a look for a little Polo diesel or a Fiesta. Not sure what to do with the Roc. Might still sell her anyway. Shame but what to do?!

What about swapping for a diesel ROC ?? I'm loving mine - especially the 63mpg I got on this afternoon's trip up the M42

For what you would probably lose if you sold it (assuming you bought new) just drive it and enjoy it
Why waste your time sat in a crappy Fiesta when you could be driving the Roc

i have just got myself a polo its a 1.4, and does 55-60mpg (thats with the surfboard on), not as nice as the roc, but it does the job at a hell of a cheaper rate....

i have a few ideas for it that will keep me happy to make it look a bit better.
and to buy the car and insure it, its the same amount as it was just to insurance the roc

MY CARS IS SOLD 21.5K BETTER OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ive been and traded in my 'Roc for a 57 plate Jetta 2.0tdi. Its going to be dull as dishwater to drive but will save me over £200 a month
Im sure im going to get it Bluefinned next month to liven it up a bit
