Re: 2.0TDI Stage 2?
The likes of Revo do it but you will require at least the DPF to be be removed.
If you have a manual i would imagine you will need a new clutch sooner or later.
I have been toying with the idea of stage 2 on my CR for a while so if you go ahead let me know.
I have heard of people getting to 210bhp with much smoother pull and better economy.

What power do you want.
How much money do you have to spend.
Where in the country are you.

Around 300, London, close to M25, unlimited budget.xjay1337 wrote:What power do you want.

Well that's easy then.
300 is not possible at the moment.
Unlimited budget, really? I've put over £8k into my engine and gearbox and I'm around 260bhp or so. As far as I know I am one of the most powerful common rail 2.0 vag in the UK and the only one running upgraded fuel pump and for this money I am thinking I'd have been better off building a 500bhp TFSI!
Problem is air flow in the cylinder head. we can add more fuel but lacking air.
As rough guide
GTB2260 Kit (let's say Darkside) - £2400 Inc vat (excluding fitting & mapping)
Intercooler - £500
Pipework kit - £350
Clutch - £1k for manual, £1500 if DSG (clutch packs will slip).
Gearbox supporting mods (not necessary but highly recommended - £500)
Remainder of exhaust to make full 3 inch system - £500
Fitting all the above will come to about 12 hours labour (about 9 if you ignore the gearbox supporting modifications).
Mapping for the above would be about 10 days and around £750.
For reference everything minus the clutch kit and Intercooler fitting came in at £3950, just checked my invoice glad I was sitting down.
If you shopped around, bought cheap polish (crap) parts you could probably get it for just under £3k but at the cost of reliability.
Mapping I would get done by Bobby, he is the guy who does all my tuning, he is based in Slough. I had Darkside software before. Now Bobby does it all and wrote me several new ground up tunes.
You will probably struggle over 250bhp without HPFP upgrade as you will get rail pressure drop,
Bobby sells these for £550 (kit he made himself). He is only mapper in the world (as far as I know) who has got a CP3 pump with custom tune working on a big turbo common rail build. Other HPFP are available (4.2) but these have proven to flow less than the cp3 and be less reliable.
Now we are at air flow limits and other limits within the software. We could push to 270-280 but would mean removing EGT protection which is a no-no in my book.
Next up is larger injectors to reduce EGT and cylinder head porting to improve air flow. Means head skim, decoke, may as well put uprated valve springs in as well, that's another £750 quite easily plus either a replacement cylinder head of having your car off the road for a week. (cylinder heads are about 250 quid on Ebay).
My friend had his car tuned by Bobby on stock turbo etc, and made 209 with gutted stock downpipe, could squeeze a couple more BHP with suitable clutch and better exhaust. Unless you are racing through every gear there is not much different in reality. you will gain a couple of car lengths above 4k rpm in each gear and only when on the 1/4 mile or motorway do you get full benefit of the extra power.

Best bang for buck is around 210bhp with DPF delete pipe (3 inch) and Stage 2 software. once you get past that you end up spending £1k to chase 3bhp.
Cheers.

Re: 2.0TDI Stage 2?
I am talking specifically about the 170s. But yes, everything I have said is absolutely correct.
I am not sure about the 184s, I don't think the differences are huge between the two engines. I know they use a different turbo (GTD1449) where as 170 use a KKK BV43 unit.
I do not have specific inducer and exducer size differences.
I think injectors etc are the same and the basic engine is the same.
I have not seen any mapping info on the 184 but I would imagine they would go to roughly 205-210 in the same way as the 170s do.
I found TDI Tuning tested one: http://www.tdi-tuning.co.uk/site/ourblo ... sel-Tuning" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I would find that to be believable figures (220bhp at best) as the KKK BV43 turbo can cause high EGTs when you push it much more than 1.7bar and while the Garret GTD may not be much bigger in terms of air flow you may not have the EGT issues which can cause you the 10bhp difference (210-220).
I do not think 238 is possible but happy to be proved wrong. Awesome GTI quote roughly the same figures as the CR170 (210-220). I doubt a tuning box would get you more than that. Especially without DPF delete as well it will not flow that high.
The difference is being a remapped car may do the 1/4 in about 15s around 93mph. I can do it in high 13s at 103.
Paradox - on the roll I can keep up with M3s, 3.0 TFSI S4, etc. My 60-100 time is low to mid 6 seconds which is in line with Audi RS4 etc.
This is a really old tune, it's quite a bit quicker now:
" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I haven't done much in the way of comparison videos or anything on the new tunes because it's been so hot, it's pointless. I will wait until winter.

Lol that's not a term I've heard of.
Cheers I guess. I just love the tuning side of things and am really interested in it. You have to sort of understand it when you are balls deep in your credit card.

is that the Polar FIS you have? I've got one fitted but can't see the same reference to showing actual turbo boost pressure like yoursxjay1337 wrote: This is a really old tune, it's quite a bit quicker now:

Re: 2.0TDI Stage 2?
Yes it is.
In visualisation -> advanced -> boost options
Set Infort x2
Then I have set my pressures to PSI (you can use bar if you prefer).
Then just added Boost in my screen.
! is requested. Without ! is actual.

TTRS calipers.
TTS 340mm discs
AKS Tuning adaptor plates to fit the 340mm discs
You wil lneed 12mm spacers on Stock turbines not sure about other wheels.

Ps - I know Bobby has a GTB2066 VKLR if you want it.
Or you can buy my 2260 and I'll have the 2066.
I can give you his number if you want and he can give you some prices.
