Poor Colour Selection

Does anyone else think that the colours on offer for the Scirocco are p*ss poor? I'm struggling to choose a colour between black, white and Pewter. All the other colours are a bit lame. I've even contemplated buying one in a base colour and having a full colour change respray from new!

What colour would you like to get it in?

Ideally something of a more dark metallic grey similar to BMW's Sparkling Graphite, or the metallic red as posted above. Even the new Golf has about a dozen colours to choose from. Im tempted to order pewter and then respray BMW sparkling graphite.

You can do that with most of the Audi's now, costs a couple of grand.

BM did state this but he didn't mention anything about having to pay a supplement to VW.
I found this out after I'd placed my order.
If I'd found out before I'd definitely have investigated.
BM said you can have any colour in the VW range as long as it's used on a model that comes out of the same plant as the Roc.
So for example you couldn't have any colour from the Beetle range as they are made somewhere else.
I don't know what other models come out of the same factory as the Roc though.

given the roc is made at eos plant in reality the any colour reference is somewhat misleading, in reality you get the choice of two other colours if this is true, any VW colour is rubbish

Well i think that vw did a great job by making 10 different colours for the rocco. The only thing i am sad about was that they didnt do a nice fire red/metallic red colour . The official color i wanted my scirocco to be (once i found out it was being produced) is ferrari red with beige leather interior, that would be amazingly PIMPIN

And that's another thing. The representation of the colours on the VW web sites (where the above pic came from) is totally misleading.
These colours don't look anything like the real thing. Rising Blue and Pewter and Viper especially are a joke.
Colour choice is such an important part of choosing a car that manufacturers should have a duty to represent them realistically in their literature / web sites.
Why not give us real photos?
I agree, the choices for the Roc are poor. There should be a lot more to choose from

When I was first looking to buy a Roc I would have been happy with any of 5 colours. The final decision was between white and rising blue. The only colour missing really is a bright red but I wouldn't want it myself. Anyone for orange, yellow or purple?

That's the same with me. I've seen some really nice dark Greys on other models that I would have liked.
Pewter in the metal is better than any pictures I've seen of it though. It can look so different in different lights and looks great when it's clean with clouds reflecting off of it.
Sometimes it looks like it's made out of iron. Very muscular (a great adjective for the Pewter that I've pinched from someone else' post).

Definately ! I was at a VAG dealer wavering over a Salsa Roc they had in stock but wasn't quite sure if I was really happy with the colour. While I was mulling it over a Firespark Audi came round the corner out of the compound and that settled it for me. No thanks - I'll go for Candy white
Shame really.
Rising blue is OK but compared to my Trophy blue MG it looks washed out. Might have gone for a Shadow blue if had been able to see one in the flesh first.

I agree with what you guys are saying about the representation of the colours, i have a Pewter Grey Sirocco and it looks nothing like the brochure. Its a very personal thing but probably the single most important choice about the car once you have decided a Scirocco is for you ! I think even if they had big photo posters at the dealership that you could compare side by side it would be better. Sumatra is another colour that i pondered about but in the end just could not get a decent view of what it would look like. Very happy with the Pewter and its another colour that looks very different on sunny days to dark days.
Also when you look at the range for the new Golf GTI its a bigger and better range. I think they should have one full set of VW colours that you can chose from but not doubt that would just add a big hike in price

Audi offer two extra colour services. Either any colour in the Audi range or match a customer sample. Both cost extra £££ but at least the choice if there. I dont know if Id trust a body shop to take my car apart for a full respray and but it back together again without rattles.

So glad I got pewter. There are people that see it in the brochure and say, that grey is such a dull colour - see the pics in the post above, it looks crap on the printed page. In the flesh it can look like an icy blue, or a slate blue. It looks a lot like "Georgia Blue" that some other VWs get.

In the flesh, my favourite colours have got to be Pewter, White or Rising Blue. I have never seen a Summatra in the flesh, because no VW dealer around here (4 to choose from) has the bottle to order one in as a demonstrator/stock car. My most local dealer hasn't had anyone order on in Summatra either, so they've never seen one in the flesh. To me that implies that it will be a very unpopular colour.

Haven't seen an Opal in the flesh either, but I think champagne coloured cars look as cheesy as gold ones do. But, i'm judging that colour before i've seen it in the flesh.

The brochure colours are a poor representation of what they really look like.

The coolest gold coloured car I ever saw was a neighbour's crappy Citroen C3. He'd added "PO" to the "C3" badge at the back and had sticker detailing on the bonnet to make it look like C3PO's chest.

Firespark red is the colour everyone wishes we could get - i've seen that (or something similar) on an Audi A5, and it's the dogs!

On the German Golf GTi configurator you can have almost any exterior colour you want for a premium. It's a shame VW don't offer this to UK customers!

I originally ordered pewter, got fed up waiting and went back to the dealers. They had a sumatra with a similar spec in the showroom, the sun was out and i just loved it, it had been my original choice but i just hadn't had the courage to order it. It is a beautiful colour - when the clouds are out it looks black, but when the sun shines its graphite with a brown sheen and all the reflections and changes in the body panels are hilighted in a warmer shade. If you are considering it, i personally wouldn't hesitate.
