Slipping Clutch

Post by unphased-rocco »

Morning All,

Well it looks like the clutch is on its way out over the last few weeks where its slipping on load in 3 and 4 gears and even in 6 if the foot is planted on the motorway.

The engine has been remapped and think its found the weakness as the power is there but clutch is a little behind.

Just wondering has anyone had the clutch replaced and costs i will be expecting to payout and or what clutch upgrades people have put into their motor?

Cheers

Haz

What stage are you at with the mapping as a stage 1 should be fine with a OEM clutch, If you are planning to go to stage 2 or above then you will need to be looking at a uprated clutch, Sachs are a good bet but are on the expensive side ! (check awesome car parts ) http://www.awesomegti.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Good luck.

Had mine done on the Scirocco R - £1300 in total. £800 ish for Helix Clutch from Awesome with standard DMF and Release bearing. Then the rest in labour. Quoted 8 hours for the job.

Yeah looked at the Sachs and Helix clutch but i dont think i would benefit from the upgrade...

Sachs is about the same price at standard from VW so could be tempted but i should get warranty on their part if it goes again...

Had my clutch replaced party under warranty due to slave cylinder leaking, paid £400 for the part no labour.

They put a revised clutch in which seems to feel and perform better than the original! i'm stage 1 15k miles after remap and still going strong.
