MDI interface unit (where the ipod cable plugs into)

Post by Upperoilcan »

HI,

I have managed to source a unit for the car but i'm being told by the seller that the unit needs to be coded to the car ??

Can anyone verify this as I thought it was just a case of swapping the units over.

Regards Graham.

As far as I know, the car needs coding to accept the unit, not the other way round. If you already have one fitted and you;re just swapping over then should'nt need any coding I don't think. If however you're fitting one for the first time then there'll be coding to make it work.

Thanks Viking that's what I thought as I'm taking out a faulty unit for a new one and I don't feel like giving VW the job as they want 100 quid to fit,the guy in the service centre told me it takes no more than 15 mins !

As suspected its just a case of plug and play, no need for any coding, the whole job took around 5 mins !
