Kenwood Double DIN

Post by BlueTSI »

Hi, i have a 2011 Scirocco which has the standard RCD510 system. I have have plenty of reading on various forums.

I am looking to replace it with a Kenwood DNX521DAB but I have a couple of questions.

- Do i need an adapter cable or a CANBUS adapter for the new unit? My car does not have buttons on the steering wheel.

- I presume the climate control and parking sensors show on the unit?

Thanks

You need a special adapter for the canbus information to show on the nav.
Its a caw-kimun1. http://www.kenwood.eu/car/accessories/s ... AW-KIMUN1/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Just ask the Kenwood dealer to be sure.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I also assumed that I require additional leads but this message from Kenwood seems to suggest otherwise, https://vwcaliforniaclub.com/threads/ke ... post-54673" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Confused now!

Yess you also need a vw specific lead for the normal connections and one for the fm antenna.
Wich i mentioned is for the canbus information (climatronic/pdc/time).

It looks like the unit comes already with the correct VW leads. I have managed to source one for £470 which includes all the leads and accessories.

You are probably going to need a fascia kit for that. Recently had a DNN9230DAB fitted by a pro installer, he buys all his gear from this place.

They were very polite & great to deal with when I rang to verify with them if it contained all I needed as I had previously bought the wrong fitting kit.
