problems with centre console rattle

Post by moose185 »

I'm still getting rattling and creaking from the centre console, (the arm rest and plastic before the gearbox). I sent it into volkswagen to have a look at it, they said they padded it down but it still makes the annoying rattle.

It's more noticable in cold weather and not as bad when it's hot, I reckon because the plastic expands with heat.

Has anyone got a fix for this? any help would be appreciated? this rattle is driving me nuts!

take the panels off that go from the footwells to half way up the centre console (parallel between the gear lever and seatbelt). There are a few metal clips there that could cause a rattle if not seated properly... will also allow you to have a root around with your fingers.. take the gear lever gator off as well and have a prod.. Is the rattle more obvious or the creaking?
