Dectane DRL issue - help appreciated

Post by pappasmurf »

I bought this car with these already fitted. A few days ago the driver's side white led strip (drl) stopped working along with a warning in the dash. Today I had a go at fixing it and found the holder and the red connector badly corroded. As I never fitted them, I am unsure what parts came with them or what was required to install them. I'm guessing the bulb holder contacts can be cleaned up but the red connector with resistors is goosed. Can this be sourced?

If you search on the forum you can find more about this dectane problem, it's a common known problem.
The connector isn't very water/moisture proof and that electronic parts are not sealed or protected.
Some have changed the wiring but you have to search for it.

Cheers. I saw that thread. I've mailed dectane but may have to remove the 'good' one to get more info.

Still having problems with this. Is it possible to get the resistor/bulb connector part on its own?

This is from the 'good' side. "Car DNA" is embossed on the lense of the unit

Best is to contact the dealer where you bought the lights.
If you contact dectane directly you have little chance they help you.
The have a very bad costumer support.

Got a reply from Dectane. Incredibly they have 'no solution'. The small part (wedge holder and resistors on the pcb) is not available as a spare. So in other words, for a common failure, the only solution is to buy a new set of lights? Wow. Has nobody encountered this issue and found a solution?
