Emissions Update

Post by C00PS »

Hi All,

So it's been quite a few months since the last of my 3 letters about my car needing the emissions issue sorting.

Not only has there been no media interests for a while and it's just been swept under the carpet but also it seems VW are also on the hush as well.

Does anyone have any news or opinion as to why this has all gone quiet?

I was in a dealer on Monday and they said they were going to start the programme of updates shortly.

VW said they hoped to have all cars done by the end of 2016, so they still have plenty of time.

Personally, I'm not too bothered about it.

So I'm not the only one then.

In fact I couldn't care less. As soon as VW start their program of 'updates' they'll have lost me as a customer for as long as I own my Scirocco. As far as I'm concerned there is nothing wrong so it doesn't need fixed and until either; a) I'm legally required to bring my car in or; b) it's in my financial advantage (and significant at that) to bring it in for this 'fix' it won't be near VW for anything.

I got my DSG serviced last time it was in so its good for 40k and any decent garage can service a car so no VW main dealer visits for me.

I dropped my Scirocco off at my main dealer this morning for a service. I asked about the emissions software update and they said they were not doing the Scirocco yet, but had started doing other models a couple of months ago. They suggested the software change hadn't been released for the Scirocco, rather than them just running their own prioritisation specific to their dealership.
