Scirocco Rear Brake Binding

Good evening all I have a question and a groan. I had my Roc TSI in for its 4th service today at Barnetts in Dundee. Part of the service was replacing the brake fluid. Anyway I picked it up this afternoon and the rear brakes are now binding. Not by much but noticeable and the rear discs do get hot not as bad as a full on seized caliper. I took the car back minutes after the discovering the problem and the car was put back on the ramp at which point the service lad and his manger showed me the rear brakes were binding slightly more so on the offside. They then proceeded to ask me what I wanted them do to about it which I thought would be obvious - Fix it! They then told me I would be charged for it, I tried explaining to the pair that it wasn't happening before I took it in and now it is. The manager then told me they never touched the brakes so it couldn't be their fault - hang on you charged me for changing the brake fluid so you did touch the brakes. Long story short the manager got quite aggressive and by this point I was getting frustrated and getting nowhere so I took the car home, not before getting his business card and leaving a message with the owner of the garage about the appalling customer service. Anyway. Any ideas?

Sadly it's a common problem and it requires the caliper to cleaned and freed up.

I must admit I wouldn't have thought changing the fluid would have caused it but I would have expected the garage to offer better customer service than that.

Thanks for the reply. Will get them stripped down shortly and see what's what. Hopefully a sticky slide

The mechanical functioning of the brakes wouldnt have been touched during a brake fluid change.

There is no chance a caliper can become siezed by bleeding a caliper

I agree there is no way the caliper could stick after a break fluid change. The fact is in my experience a service usually includes a clean up of the brakes at least this is what I used to do as part of a service on any vehicle, atleast cleaning the slides and checking the pads for glazing. I stripped them down last night and freed them up. Just lubbed the cylinders and slides and all is good. What I did notice is there is not a chance in hell the wheels were taken off and they haven't changed my brake fluid as the bleed nipples haven't been touched, unless of course VW have devised a master plan to bleed the brakes without touching the bleed nipples........Not a happy bunny. Awaiting a call back from them to discuss the truly shocking service
