Hi there,
I have a Volkswagen Scirocco 1.4 TSI, had it for a year now. I started noticing a creaking/rattling sound coming from the left hand side of the car. seems to be coming from the centre to front of the vehicle. The noise is very noticable when driving over bumps and really drives me crazy!
I booked into Volkswagen dealership to have a look at it, they said they noticed a rattling sound and found it from the anti roll rubber mounts, lack of lubrication causing creaking noise, they lubricated the rubber mounts fir anti roll bar.
This still hasn't solved the problem. I really love my Scirocco but the rattling noise is a dealbreaker for me, has anyone had this problem and found a fix for it? I'm worried if I take it back to the garage they won't do anything.
This is a link to a voice file I recorded highlighting the rattling noise. if you listen from 30 second onwards it's quite noticable.

Re: rattling noise coming from left hand side
Hi Moose,
It could be the infamous dashboard rattle??
I had this done in 2012 & they carry out the following:
Velcro padding (yes, really) put on the bulkhead between it & the bottom of the windscreen.
Also they apparently realign the position of the ECU on the bulkhead.
The rattling does seem to be there when the ambient temperature is low.

hi did it sort out the rattling? it's really noticable for me. I can't really pinpoint where it's coming from, either the suspension or the dashboard. I'm going to phone volkswagen about it tomorrow.

Re: rattling noise coming from left hand side
Hi just an update on this, I've now had it into the dealership twice and it hasn't fully solved the rattling problem.
The first time they lubricated rubber mounts and anti roll bar, this made no difference at all. the second time they removed trim around radio unit and centre vents, removed radio unit, removed centre vents fitted padding areas where vents contact other trims - padding.
Has anyone else got a fix for this rattling? it's driving me nuts and I'm thinking of selling my car if they can't solve it.

Yup,I`ve got the same trouble. Because I can quite exactly point where the squeezes come from, I`m going to dissasembly the B pillar( my car has steering wheel on left side). Do you guys know about any tutorial how to do it ?

Hi, what rubber mounts did they lubricate? And do you have any idea what they used to lubricate them? Thanks!
