To 3 or not to 3, that is the question!

Post by Psycho Kirky »

Hi all, as I expected, I am now contemplating going stage 3 and getting th K04 turbo upgrade -.- lol.

Had anybody done it to theirs?

Manual 2.0 tsi

Although is there any point as Im currently stage 2 and the front wheels cant cope with full boost in the obvious 1st 2nd and sometimes 3rd and 4th if wet roads.

A further increase will surely be wasted on FWD!? Gradual power is all well and good, but every enthusiast still wants full throttle and full grip!

Experience and opinions all welcome :D

Interesting, I'm debating on stage 2 or just go straight to k04

Any reviews on a stage 2 GT?

Stage 2 is very good, its a great power increase showing what the car is capable of. If you have a manual I would consider an uprated clutch. i.e. sachs performance 550nm clutch and maybe a new flywheel as they can tend to go with increase in power.

When flooring it, 1st and 2nd gear will be violent and probably lose grip as the power goes to the wheels on full boost even in dry weather.

But all is managable, controllable and extremely fun!

Sold lol

I was considering Revo but I hear their maps are quite aggressive. k04 is tempting but it also means delaying a map while I source all the parts which could take a while.

Stage 2 does sound like A lot of fun, hopefully I will draw the line there and stop with the performance mods after that

I'm stage 2 revo and had the linear map rather than the standard and all I can say is wow. Power is aggressive but more than manageable with good throttle control. Obviously if you slam the foot down then you will spin up but that's all part of the fun of learning the car and it's limits.

I haven't used it myself but some people on here has.

I think it would be better to avoid them and get a proper diagnostic check when getting a remap. with the bulefin, you just load the file onto the car.
