Scirocco built in Wolfsburg !!!

Just called my French dealer to see whether my build week was still 23 as he had told me before

He checked & then told me the car had been built in week 19 (like a month ago) and that it was in quality check in Wolfsburg !!!!

I told him "shurely shome mishtake" the Scirocco is built in Portugal no ?

He says no, Wolfsburg, there are several lines building Sciroccos

Hmm ! so if he is not, as I strongly suspect, tripping, my car was built a month ago in Germany and I still won't see it for at least another month And it won't be a 2010 either

Seems mighty fishy to me !

I understood (could be wrong) that they are built in Portugal but shipped back to Germany for final checks.

In these days of "Just in time" and "lean" and all the rest of it, it doesn't sound very efficient !
I'd have thought they could check them in Portugal

All are made in Portugal and shipped to Germany and then distributed from there.
Some dealers don't actually know what they are saying. Mine only got to know from me that factory is in Portugal
In fact he was so sure it was in Germany that the look on his face after realizing he's wrong was priceless

that's not true... im from portugal... and all the cars are built here and checked here... they are all shiped from auto europa , palmela portugal
