Replacing wing mirror indicator lens

Hi guys

Came back to my 2week old Scirocco to find my passenger wing mirror has been scratched, both painted cover and indicator lens. I've found that you can remove and replace the cover easily but couldn't see anywhere discussing indictator lens swapping.

Is this something that can be done by simply removing the wing cover or do you need to remove the mirror glass to?

Also, found a guy who goes by 1963caymen who sells painted Scirocco (and other car models) wing mirror covers. Anyone had any experience with him?

First remove the painted cover (Part 13) starting with a trim tool at the outermost edge slide the tool under the mirror cap and gently twist, the cap should pop off
remove the mirror glass (Part 12) by getting your fingers behind it and gently levering it off. you will also need to disconnect the heater wires.
the trim (part 3) is held on by two clips one at either side and 2 screws (part 9), release these first, then gently remove the trim (be careful not to break the indicator tell-tale as this will mean you will need to buy a new lower housing) the lower housing should now be very wobbly
Release the clip by the mirror pivot point and manipulate the lower housing free from the main mirror body. if your car is fitted with puddle lights in the mirror, then the whole light unit just pops out with minimal force.

hi, i know this is an old post. but this morning on my way to work i was driving down a narrow road and someone decided the best way to approach a car coming at you is put the foot down. she ended up clipping my mirror and just cracked the led lens on the right wing mirror. all electrics still work in the mirror even though the glass was displaced.

any advice would be hugely appreciated

I did that about 3 years ago (my fault), I was driving down a narrow street and just clipped a stationary vehicle and it cracked the lens. I took it to the dealer. The part is about £22 and it would cost about £50 including labour to replace.

Should be fairly easy to replace yourself, but could be a fit fiddly without correct tools etc.
