I am one of the people to have the ea189 engine, ive had my letter from vw, does anyone know what they will need to do my car apart from the software and what actually will this software do, ive been advised it will up my consumption of fuel, surely not as then that makes it less efficient, I can understand the mpg is probably giving wrong info but that would nt mean id need to refill more often surely.

It's all speculation at the moment as VW have not released the details of the "fix" or in fact if they have one yet.
The difficulty is to.meet the Nox limit, there is a high likelyhood the power output will be reduced and the car will be less efficient so yes less mpg and more fill ups.
On the 1.6, which is not used in the Scirocco, they are already saying new injectors will be required in addition to a software update.
We'll just have to wait and see
