MY CAR IS ONE THATS BEING RECALLED.. FOR ME & OTHERS DOES ANYBODY HAVE ADVICE OF WHAT TO DO BEFORE/AFTER ..

Will the cars have to go back to completely standard down to suspension & engine mods

They will change the engine software to erase the NOx cheat.
Don't know if the car owner will have a choice to refuse this update.
Main important thing will be if you have a remapped engine or egr.
Will it be erased by the update and do they pay a refund when this happens.

This is my concern.
My car is remapped running revo stage 1.
If I take my car back for the recall more than likely they will wipe the map off. I don't want that. But if I have to have it. What's the likelihood they would reinburse you the cost of the remap. Can't see them doing it myself.

I'm hearing you can refuse to take your car back to them. But obviously if anybody does it's going to de value the car at the end of the day. So it's a choice. Hmmmmm

Simply put - it is too early to tell so no point panicking or worrying about it.

Wait and see what VW plan to do about it. Everything else is guess work.

I'm going to be interested to see what they say when I say mine is remapped and will they reinburse the cost of it. Bet they won't.

It's undoubtedly the case that they won't reimburse, since it's not a VW sanction remapping (cp. BMW performance pack). The information required here is, what does the recall actually aim to do, other than remove the defeat software? And what are the consequences of not acting on the recall? Regards the former, it's not clear? Regards the latter, if selling on at some point then simply the new owner has to go in for the recall, which doesn't seem a biggie. If keeping, then (depending on the what the recall actually aims to achieve), why bother taking the car in? The only catch is that if you have the car serviced by a VW dealer then the defeat software will be removed at that time.

Maybe the coding or software can be removed without flashing the ECU back to standard.

Could be worth trying to find others in a similar situation and making a bit of noise about it. With all the bad press they're currently getting I doubt they'd want any more, no matter how small.

Only curiosity for me but would they refuse to do it if it's modded?
