remap tdi bluemotion ?

Post by chrismiked »

is it worth remapping a 2.0 tdi 140bhp blue motion rocco, or I am just inviting more things to go wrong ?
how much does it generally cost ? and will it decrease my mpg at all, I travel quite a lot so mpg is a big issue
will it be noticeably quicker or just fractionally, I'm not a racer but when I overtake I cant stand messing about etc.....
any comments appreciated.
what does remapping actually involve?

Ive got my cr140 remapped and it goes well, with a dpf delete an egr i got 251bhp at the flywheel so about 215-220 at the wheels, on a run i get about 71mpg on the motorway sitting at 75-80mph. this is a what the dyno graph showed after it was done. Image

Diesels tend to be detuned via the ECU to help with emissions so the gains tend to be pretty good. It also helps add power throughout the range and iron out any flat spots if you get a good map. From what I'm told a DPF delete itself won't make any difference to performance as it doesn't restrict breathing and the egr delete will make such a minuscule difference as to be un noticeable BUT getting rid of the egr will help with the longevity of your turbo.

What year is your car as cars of a certain age need a dpf as a legal requirement. Once you get rid of these things and remap your car will spew out soot so any policeman driving behind you will be left with no doubt your car is illegal. Make sure you take your DPF and keep it if you have it removed as it could be a costly refit if you're made to put it back on.

To the poster above, that is pretty incredible, I've never seen anything like that from a stage one map and would never have believed you without the dyno chart. My old man had his CR170 octy vrs done when his dpf collapsed but I'd bet my house it's nothing like that amount at the flywheel. It goes like stink now though, second gear smokes the wheels in any weather when the turbo hits and third won't grip at all with your foot planted in the wet.
