ARGH! Paint code
ARGH! Paint code
Hi all -
Figured I might get a little more luck here than through my local VW dealers. I ordered myself a new Scirocco just over a week ago in Sumatra metallic and have also ordered some new 19" alloys to fit (I'm not a great fan of the standard ones). I'm wanting to get the centres of the new wheels sprayed to match the body.
The bodyshop contacted me to let me know my wheels had arrived and what the paint code is. So I rang VW and asked them - and was told by the parts dept. that they don't have a 'Sumatra Metallic' on their systems - despite the fact that there's a colour chip board up in the showroom with a postcard sized 'sumatra metallic' option?!!
So does anyone out there have a Sumatra metallic Scirocco or can anyone tell me the code so I can give it to the bodyshop?

Someone with a Sumatra ordered! Can we see pics please when it arrives?
Re: ARGH! Paint code
I'll be sure to post pics as soon as it comes. Gone for the GT petrol DSG 'box, tan interior (or truffle as I think VW call it), dynaudio, cruise, sunroof and winter pack as I do a fair bit of driving in Europe. The days can't go fast enough!!
Re: ARGH! Paint code
yep - that's Sumatra - a kinda gunmetal grey, I noticed on the German brochure the paint colour seems to be called 'Dark Maroon Metallic' - which you can just about read on the sign next to the one in the link. Quite why they need two separate names for the same colour for different countries?!
Re: ARGH! Paint code
In the parts catalogue its called
Dark Maroon Metallic - R8X
There is also Imola Yellow, Berryllium Grey, abd Trend Blue colours listed.

That must be it then! Thanks very much for that - the parts guy kept saying Berryllium Grey but I was positive it wasn't that.

Berryllium Grey is what the UK brochure calls Pewter grey.
