Common Windscreen Rattle
Is this the windscreen rattle? Hoping someone who has had the same might be able to confirm.
I know the camera is pointing at the vents but the sound is coming from around the little sensor on the dash by the window.

Thanks

Re: Common Windscreen Rattle
Sounds very similar to a rattle I had when I 1st got my car. It seems to disappear and return now and again. It happened the other day actually.

Re: Common Windscreen Rattle
Followed this from RW1
http://www.sciroccocentral.co.uk/forum/ ... tle#p68218
There was already the Velcro in there but was looking at bit worse for wear.
So I added in some anti rattle tape.
I could reproduce the rattle by pushing down on the wiper in the center of the windscreen. After pushing stone anti rattle tape up there seems to have gone! Only time will tell though!
If my fix doesn't work be off to the dealer for them to do it properly. Should be covered under warranty if you give the TPI.

Re: Common Windscreen Rattle
Quite easy to tell if it's the windscreen rattle.
Grab the windscreen wiper that's base sits in the middle of the windscreen. Then grab the base.
Move it up and down (Away from and towards the windscreen)
You will hear the tapping noise.

I used about a metre of anti vibration tape today around the scuttle panel. Hopefully the rain will ease enough tomorrow so that I can listen out to see if I've cured the rattle.

Re: Common Windscreen Rattle
Nope, that didn't work. Have been pressing down on the scuttle panel cover today to locate any noise. Have ended up deadening the passenger side by the windscreen pillar. Will see if this has solved it tomorrow. Have also greased all of the moving parts of both wipers.neilwarren wrote:I used about a metre of anti vibration tape today around the scuttle panel. Re: Common Windscreen Rattle
From inside the cabin, the rattle seems as if it is coming from the dash panel with the climatronic temp sensor (square box in center of dash by the front windscreen). By pushing down on it, I can hear the rattle/tapping sound, has anybody had this same issue? I don't suppose this would have anything to do with the plastic plate underneath touching the glass of the windscreen? I've taken the car to the dealership twice now and they have not been able to fix it and advised that they would need to pull apart the dash - not too keen on this option as i fear that it may introduce further rattles

Re: Common Windscreen Rattle
My car has been with the dealership since 25th August. They still can't fix the fault. They've replaced so many parts but to no avail as yet. I'm on holiday until 7th September, so I'm hoping it's fixed on my return.

Re: Common Windscreen Rattle
Fingers crossed I seem to have sorted the bottom centre windscreen rattle. The rattle was coming from two places under the scuttle cover. These were under the passenger side, one where a clip attaches and one where the scuttle cover sits. I padded both of these parts out with anti-vibration tape and have not had a squeak since.
